In June 20 – 24, 2019, Center for School Leadership organized the activity on the Design and Development of Training Curricula for the preparatory training program for certification of in-service and aspiring principals of Pre-university Education Institutions.
The main goal of this activity was the design of preparatory initial training curricula for in service and aspiring principals based on the latest new proposed standards of school principals.
This activity was led by Yaakov Gutterman, PhD, Head of Leadership Training program at Kibbutzim College of Education, Israel with the participation of curricula development experts from Agency for Quality Assurance in Pre-University Education, General Directorate of Pre-university Education, Institutions of Higher Education and school principals. Also, in the framework of this activity, a meeting of the above mentioned working group with some principals from K9 schools and high schools of Tirana at Center for School Leadership premises provided a valuable input in this process.
The draft of training program curricula, hours, credits, knowledge, teaching process was prepared based on the participants’ discussions and input on: needs assessment report and the proposed new standards of principals; analysis of the relevant curricula of other similar programs offered in Albania; views about school leadership and its evaluation.
Part of this activity were visits of Dr. Gutterman to “Edit’h Durham” K9 school and “Sami Frasheri” high school of Tirana in order to get by the principals, senior staff and teachers their perception on challenges, strength, weaknesses, current innovations and priorities for change. These visits were preceded by the meetings of Dr. Gutterman with education sector of AADF as well as a focus group meeting with high school students.
